” Naming Our Idols”
Rev. K. Anna Shin preaching
Theme: Got idols? It’s hard to believe there are perfectly sane people who dress up and chant out in obsessive worship toward inanimate objects. We are so beyond that? Right?
Nope. We still seek life from non-life giving sources, don’t we? Shiny things still dazzle and lure us in.
Prayer: O God, you pour out your spirit of grace and love. Deliver us from cold hearts and wandering thoughts, that with burning zeal and steady minds we may worship you in spirit and truth. Amen. (from Ancient collects and prayers)
Scripture: Exodus 20:22-24; 2 Kings 17:38-41; Matthew 6:21
“FIRST-Putting God First in Living and Giving”
Friendship’s Stewardship Campaign to begin this Sunday
This year the theme of our Stewardship campaign is “First -putting God first in living and giving.”
We are excited about the message of this campaign not only because it encourages our members to be sacrificial givers but, more importantly, it encourages us as a congregation to be on a constant mission to expand what we do in our community and in the world.
Pastor Anna’s November sermon series will focus on four topics that relate to living and giving:
“Naming Our Idols-” Nov. 3
“Money, Work and Debt-” Nov. 10
“Be Faithful, Save and Give-” Nov. 17
“Heart Giving-” Nov. 24
A small group study “Shiny Gods” will be offered between services from 10:10-10:40 am for members and friends of FUMC. A short video presentation and discussion will focus on the topic of the week.
