“Greatness of Another Kind”
Committed to Christ Sermon Series:
Step Six ~ Hands On Service
This Sunday concludes Friendship Church’s “Committed to Christ” Sermon Series. For six weeks we have been examining our relationship with God in Christ. We have journeyed together on a path that has taken us through six steps: Prayer, reading the Bible regularly, attending worship, witnessing to our faith, financial giving and hands on service.
Jesus came to us so that we could have a life abundantly. Therefore the primary mission of a healthy church is to help everyone discover the abundant life in Jesus Christ . Are you satisfied with being ‘almost Christian’, just a good Christian? Or do you want to be “the altogether Christian” who has a heart filled with love of God and neighbor and live that out accordingly?
Last week we made our financial commitments to Friendship Church to support the programs that both touch others outside our walls and also to do Jesus’s work within our church through education and worship.
This Sunday, November 18, we will celebrate this ministry together in a 10:00 a.m. Unity Celebration worship service followed by our annual Thanksgiving dinner. We will share this dinner in Christian love and companionship as we live out our name “Friendship.”
Prayer: Almighty and most merciful God, from you comes every good and perfect gift. We give you praise and thanks for all your mercies. Your goodness has created us, your bounty has sustained us, your discipline has chastened us, your patience has borne with us, your love has redeemed us. Give us a heart to love and serve you and enable us to show our thankfulness for all your goodness and mercy by giving up ourselves to your service and cheerfully submitting in all things to your blessed will.
