“Do All You Can”
Rev K. Anna Shin preaching
Theme: Saving money? Check. Giving money? Check. Really? The call of God on our lives invades our finances, urging us toward healthy practices that extend our life-influence beyond what we ever thought possible.
Prayer: O gracious and holy God, give us diligence to see you, wisdom to perceive you, and patience to wait for you. Grant us, O God, a mind to meditate on you, eyes to behold you, ears to listen for your Word, a heart to love you, and a life to proclaim you, through the power of the spirit of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. (Benedict of Nurnia, 6th century)
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9: 6-13; Mark 6: 34-43
“FIRST-Putting God First in Living and Giving”
Friendship’s Stewardship Campaign continues this Sunday. This year the theme of our Stewardship campaign is “First -putting God first in living and giving.” We are excited about the message of this campaign not only because it encourages our members to be sacrificial givers but, more importantly, it encourages us as a congregation to be on a constant mission to expand what we do in our community and in the world.
Pastor Anna’s November sermon series will focus on four topics that relate to living and giving:
“Naming Our Idols-” Nov. 3
“Money, Work and Debt-” Nov. 10
“Be Faithful, Save and Give-” Nov. 17
“Heart Giving-” Nov. 24
A small group study “Shiny Gods” is offered between services from 10:10-10:40 am for members and friends of FUMC. A short video presentation and discussion will focus on the topic of the week.
On Sunday, November 24, the members and friends of Friendship will worship together in one Unity service at 10:00 am. At this service, we will celebrate our gifts from God by making both a financial commitment and a service commitment to the Lord.
Following worship, we will partake of our annual Thanksgiving meal together when our “blessings” will be read aloud to the gathered community of faith.
